Post Break 58: A Conversation with Senior Post on The Bear

This Post Break featured an intimate Q&A with the post team behind The Bear. We discussed the post-production process behind this hit TV show. Made in NY, Post-Production by Senior Post based in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

Senior Post is Brooklyn's premier post house, featuring a state of the art facility inclusive of 18 suites and full support for dailies, offline, color, online and delivery. Recent projects include The Bear (FX), Inside (Netflix), and Ramy (Hulu), while recent awards include numerous Golden Globe, Emmy, Eddie, Critics' Choice, SAG, and Independent Sprit Awards for editorial and production.

Speakers:
David Woods has served as a Producer on over two hundred episodes of television across a wide range of storytelling worlds, including the Emmy-winning series "The Bear", Emmy-nominated series "The Americans", the Golden Globe-nominated series "Everybody Hates Chris", "Red Oaks", "Sweetbitter", "Genius: Aretha", "The Girlfriend Experience”, "Up Here", and "P-Valley". He is a member of the Producers Guild of America and is a borderline obsessive tennis and soccer Dad.

Joanna Naugle, ACE is a television and film editor best known for her work on FX's THE BEAR, for which she won a Primetime Emmy, two ACE Eddie Awards, and two BFE Cut Above Awards. Her other television work includes RAMY (Hulu), BIG MOUTH (Netflix), 2 DOPE QUEENS (HBO), SOME GOOD NEWS (YouTube) and specials for various comedians including John Mulaney, Roy Wood Jr, Phoebe Robinson, Chris Gethard, and Ramy Youssef. Her film work includes MOLLI AND MAX IN THE FUTURE (SXSW 2023), MUSTACHE (SXSW 2023), BEFORE YOU KNOW IT (Sundance 2019), KATE CAN'T SWIM (Slamdance 2017), and Y2K (SXSW 2024). She has also edited branded work for clients including Coca-Cola, Reebok, YouTube, Atlas Obscura, Sephora, Vevo, and Vice. Joanna is a partner at SENIOR POST, a boutique post house located in Brooklyn, and is a proud member of American Cinema Editors, British Film Editors, and the Motion Picture Editors Guild. She is also a huge fan of flea markets, banana bread, and overly-complicated board games.

Evan Wolf Buxbaum (COO, Senior Post) is known for his debut feature SUN BELT EXPRESS, starring Tate Donovan and Rachael Harris (Netflix). His producing credits also include BAND OF ROBBERS (Los Angeles Film Festival) featuring Melissa Benoist and Hannibal Buress, GRANTHAM & ROSE (Cleveland Int’l) starring Tessa Thompson, and RED, WHITE & WASTED which premiered at Tribeca where it was highlighted by the NY Times and Filmmaker Magazine. He most recently Executive Produced CREEP BOX with Witchcraft Motion Picture Company and Carter Smith's SWALLOWED with XYZ and eOne. Even currently serves as an EP and Showrunner on the Emmy-award winning travel show SMALL TOWN BIG STORY, produced in partnership with Atlas Obscura, and recently partnered with Peter Dinklage’s Estuary Films and showrunner Zach Stentz (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, THOR, FRINGE), on a TV adaptation of the acclaimed Books of Babel series.

Facilitator:
Inga Moren Tapias is a filmmaker and Miamian transplant gleefully surviving New York City’s oscillating winters. She started her career working on dozens of award-winning ad campaigns and documentaries. She has over ten years of experience working in post production. Recent Assistant Editor credits include The Idea of You (Amazon MGM studios), The Gilded Age (HBO), and The Good Flight (Paramount+). A lifelong bookworm and history buff, Inga delights in all things cringe-worthy, and comical.
