Post Break 65: The New Wave - Entertainment Industry After Netflix-WB

The Post New York Alliance assembled a panel of experts to give their take on how the Post NY Entertainment landscape will be impacted by a potential sale of Warner Bros to Netflix. The announcement of this most recent studio consolidation occurred the night of the annual PNYA holiday party. PNYA Post Breaks are where conversations about an industry always on the verge happen. This one was sure to bring the house down.

Speakers:
Jeff Roth is a senior film and television executive with more than three decades of experience across production, post-production, and studio operations. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Production Strategy & Operations at Netflix, leading global teams responsible for studio operations, production technologies, and workflow optimization across Netflix’s worldwide content slate. Also at Netflix Jeff had served as Vice President of Post Production, where he oversaw post-production management across all Netflix content organizations. He additionally had played a key role in building and scaling Netflix’s International Originals division, establishing teams, workflows, and global partnerships across more than a dozen countries.

Prior to Netflix Jeff held senior leadership roles as SVP Post-Production Focus Features / Rogue Pictures, Production Executive at Good Machine International, and Head of Production at SIM NY. He has overseen post-production on more than a 100 feature films, as well as numerous critically acclaimed series, having worked with many notable directors including Ang Lee, Pedro Almodovar, Gus Van Sant, Alfonso Cuaron, Michel Gondry, and David Cronenberg.

Now quasi-retired, he brings a pragmatic, experience-driven perspective to discussions on industry consolidation, global production economics, and the evolving future of theatrical and streaming distribution.

Tom Hall is the Executive Director of the Montclair Film Festival in Montclair, NJ. Tom also programs two independent cinemas, year round: The Claridge and The Bellevue.

Previously, Hall held the position of Director, Artistic Director and Director of Programming at the Sarasota Film Festival (2005- 2014) and Programming Director at newportFILM in Newport, RI (2009-2011). In addition, Hall was Programmer for The Nantucket Film Festival in Nantucket, MA (2002-2005) as well as a former Director of New Media for Bravo/The Independent Film Channel (1997-2000). In January of 2010, Tom was named one of Spring Board Media’s 20 under 40 in Film. Tom has directed short films for Bob Mould's Carnival of Light and Sound Tour and was an inaugural member of the indieWIRE blogging community with his blog The Back Row Manifesto, which is now a standalone website. A graduate of the University of Michigan (’94), Hall resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and two sons.

Pete Conlin is an entrepreneur and producer who has owned and operated facilities in NYC/Los Angeles/UK. Pete was a principle at Company 3 and currently consults at ProdPro and Goldcrest.
