Post New York Alliance and Ghetto Film School Form Partnership in Education Efforts
On June 25th, Chris Peterson (Post Factory), Jennifer Lane (Post Supervisor) and Samara Levenstein (Post Supervisor) traveled to the South Bronx’s Ghetto Film School (http://www.ghettofilm.org). GFS is an independent film organization that provides various pre-professional programs to some 650 artists a year. In partnership with the NYC Department of Education, GFS helped open our nation's first film high school, The Cinema School (http://www.thecinemaschool.org). GFS alumni run a self-described "creative" full-service production company called Digital Bodega (http://www.digital-bodega.com/).
Chris, Jennifer and Samara's visit began with a roundtable Q&A session, where students and faculty asked questions about their experiences in the entertainment industry and what advice the students should follow to find their own employment. Further discussion included planning for a program in which PNYA members will have the opportunity to accept GFS student interns within their companies. Other ongoing collaborations include member companies Sound Lounge and Post Factory providing gratis tech support to GFS's post facility. The planning session was followed by a tour of the facility.

Harbor Picture Company
Proud to Announce Several New Additions...
Harbor West opened in May of 2014 with 45 new offline editorial suites, including many that are large and windowed. Located in the West Village, Harbor West also houses a new 2K DI theater with 3D capability. The new space has also allowed us to expand our boutique VFX offering which launched in January 2014 and is now in full stride. In July 2014, the company’s footprint continued to grow with the opening of Harbor South on Hudson Street, which features premier sound editorial/design studios and a new television mix stage outfitted with NY's first installation of two of the new S6 consoles set up in a two-mixer configuration.
Back at Harbor’s headquarters on Varick Street, the DI team is excited to welcome Chris Mackenzie, formerly of Deluxe NY, as our Senior Conform Artist. From Chris:
"I am happy to announce that I will be joining the staff of Harbor Picture Company as the Senior Conform Artist beginning this September. I look forward to re-uniting with some of my former co-workers; Molle DeBartolo, Darrell Smith, and Joe Gawler but I'm also excited about collaborating with the rest of my talented new colleagues. In this position, I intend to expand upon Harbor's excellent body of work and provide editorial support for their feature film and episodic television projects. For any additional information or if anyone wants to contact me for any other reason, I can now be reached at mackenzie@harborpicturecompany.com, and Molle DeBartolo ( molle@harborpicturecompany.com) will also serve as a contact for me and any potential bookings as well."
Lastly, in August, Harbor added Barco 4K Projection to one of our DI theaters to be able to provide a true 4K grading environment.

Jorge has a passion for solving design and communication problems of all kinds. After studying film and philosophy at Amherst College, he began his career researching, writing and producing shows for Discovery, History and the National Geographic Channel. Jorge was recruited by a small motion design studio in 2006, and in two short years he landed a number of pitches, including the redesign of History Channel's identity.
For the next six years, Jorge thrived as a designer at some of New York's leading studios and created award-winning work for a long list of well-known brands. He now brings that same love to Thornberg & Forester as a Creative Director.
